Inala Community Centre

Inala Community Centre

With community at the axis, Inala Community Centre meets the needs of client and agency. Bound by two wings that are not only visually connected through lines of sight but are unextractable from one another in the value they bring to the neighbourhood of Inala.

Inala Community Centre is centred around community. Driven by a key design ethos of community-centricity, the building is planned around two wings, with the principal entry meeting at their intersection. Community spaces include a reception area, meeting rooms, outdoor recreation areas and multi-use activity rooms, all maintain visual connections.

The 700m2 Queensland Government-owned facility is designed to accommodate multiple agencies, including youth and community legal services. As part of the design process, Cottee Parker managed a wide team of specialist consultants to bring together the design of a dynamic and practical facility that would meet the needs of these agencies and their clients.

Stakeholder collaboration was crucial to the success of the project, involving several meetings with agency representatives. Design ideas were discussed to ascertain their specific needs and how the building could achieve these needs.

The design had to be dynamic and practical to meet the needs of the centre’s various agencies and their clients and flexible enough to adapt to differing occupiers of the space.
