University of the Sunshine Coast Moreton Bay Stage 2

Cottee Parker Architects are delighted to be working for BADGE Construction to deliver the Moreton Bay Stage 2 facilities for our client, University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC). Our role on the project commenced in late 2021 with a series of consultative and inclusive workshops that involved UniSC, Turner & Townsend, and the entire BADGE construction and consultant team.

The Mass Engineered Timber frames for the three buildings are provided by HESS and XLAM. From the outset, the precise nature and early procurement of the Glue Laminated and Cross Laminated timber frames required highly detailed structural and services coordination. Cottee Parker facilitated this process with our in-house BIM team and federated models using Solibri for clash detection, federation and client presentation. Our collaborative process also enabled Cottee Parker to assist BADGE with the finalisation of a number of key UniSC stakeholder reviews, adjustments and signoff approvals for the project. Utilising coordinated BIM models and UniSC’s own 3D virtual reality studio to review the project greatly assisted this important phase of the project.

Early focus on the precision and biophilic qualities of the timber frame has permeated the project. As BADGE commenced works on site, it was apparent this was a construction site like no other – filled with light, warmth and the familiarity of timber framed construction.

It is a pleasure to work with BADGE and their consultants and contractors, who are all currently executing works on site to an exceedingly high level of finish and considered detail.

As a client, UniSC have been highly engaged with the design, documentation and construction process, which has helped drive the amazing results on site.

We can’t wait to see the new buildings full of students and the continued positive impact of UniSC’s Moreton Bay campus at Petrie on the region.
