The Terraces, Paddington Awarded Seniors' Living and President's Award at UDIA Winter Luncheon

Our Sydney leadership team had the privilege of attending the UDIA NSW Annual Winter Luncheon with Guest Speaker Hon. Rob Stokes MP and Stephen McMahon, UDIA NSW President, who presented the UDIA NSW Greenfield Land Supply Pipeline Report. The report reveals the anticipated schedule for future housing supply and the barriers to be resolved to bring them to market. Furthermore, Cottee Parker received the awards for The Terraces, Paddington, 2021 UDIA National Awards for Excellence Seniors Living and the prestigious President’s Award.

This project is the culmination of over 15 years of work, with Presbyterian Aged Care, first entrusting their vision with Cottee Parker Architects in 2006.

The Terraces is a vertically integrated over-55s community located in Sydney’s Paddington, operated by Presbyterian Aged Care and designed by Cottee Parker. By bringing everybody together in the communal facilities, the project is one of the first in Australia to co-locate nursing home facilities and independent living within one shared building.

“The Presbyterian Aged Care vision was to create an iconic development which achieves a sense of being for a community in its own right, whilst also operating as part of the wider Paddington community within which it sits.”

“To provide high-quality residential accommodation for older people, catering for varying needs. Providing for both independent living and residential aged care on the site to support the current best practice of providing ageing-in-place options for residents. These awards have confirmed and validated that vision.”

- ROLAND MARTINEZ, COTTEE PARKER SENIOR ASSOCIATE

The innovative design includes an integrated nursing home facility as well as one, two, and three-bedroom independent living apartments spread across 5 separate buildings, with two levels of basement parking to suit modern, low-maintenance living demands.

Supported by a resort-style reception area and retail and hospitality spaces, residents have access to multiple opportunities to remain physically and socially active. The landscaped setting linking all buildings provides beautiful grounds to walk while the complex houses an indoor cinema, gym, spa, pool and health club, a resident lounge and an on-site café, hairdressing salon and beauty therapist.
