UQ student housing competition

Project Description:

Landmark student housing design comprising 820 keys, 357 units on the Walcott site and 463 housing units on the Hood site. The architecture is efficient, cost effective and visually expressive; a high quality residential design greatly enhancing the student experience on St Lucia campus.

Linear Hillside Terraces have the best environmental fit on Walcott terrain. Highly efficient central core apartments on Hood site offer superior amenity and outlook.

An urban village is created on Hood Street. The weather protected footpath forms a pedestrian spine that runs through to the Hillside Terrace housing on Walcott site. Combined, these create a strong sense of community encouraging social mix in a neighborhood and campus hub.

Unique Sky Gardens create indoor/outdoor environments that are landscaped and capitalise on natural ventilation and solar access. Each contain multiple social interaction spaces furthering student collaboration and well-being.
