The Terraces, Paddington, 2021 UDIA National Awards for Excellence winner of the Seniors Living category and President’s Award.
The Terraces project is a vertically integrated seniors living facility that forms part of the redevelopment of the defunct Scottish hospital building, a Georgian Style heritage building (circa 1848) and an existing four-storey nursing home in Paddington.
The innovative designs delivered by Cottee Parker Architects include one, two and three bedroom apartments spread across 5 separate buildings, with two levels of basement parking to suit modern, low maintenance living demands. The facilities, which include a wellness centre, pool, gym, café, library and function rooms are placed around a central terraced courtyard with the restored heritage building site forming a rich and culturally significant centrepiece.
The building’s natural external palette uses long lasting, low-maintenance materials that create a domestic and homely feel within the built environment. Stage 1 of the development, comprising of the new nursing home and the Stephen St ILUs has been completed and formally opened to the public.
