Carl St

Carl St

Led by the idea of fostering a long-term community, 62 Carl Street is Woolloongabba’s first Build to Rent development. Foundational to the design are ‘Garden Rooms’ and a green-layered façade that vertically elevate the landscaping concept from ground to rooftop.

At the ground plane, 62 Carl Street sets a precedence for the resident experience. The design immediately captures an opportunity to expand the public realm, setting back the lobby in favour of a double height open air communal ‘garden room’. Open to both residents and the community, pockets of green meeting spaces are crafted to increase the level of amenity in an area neglecting a publicly landscaped arbour, and transition from public to private as residents journey through the development.

Extending this landscaped theme vertically, the architecture hosts alternating balconies that create two story voids. Large mature trees are positioned within the spaces, combined with landscaped cascading planting. The alternating balconies are designed to create movement across the façade, and relieve the impact of the build form. The result is a living, layered building frontage that actively greens the developing Woolloongabba precinct.
