Australian Federal Police Building

Project Description:

The Australian Federal Police Building is a highly specialised gateway project that reflects The Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) aspirations and successes.

The 5-storey administration centre was assessed under its own planning ordinances, external to the Brisbane City Council’s – resulting in a stringent brief for the building’s material pallet and base building requirements. Cottee Parker Architects exceeded this brief and delivered a project that captured both innovation and functionality.

With 6,300m2 of NLA, the building design achieved a 4-star Green Star rating and a 4.5-star NABERS rating with the help of key environmentally sustainable design initiatives that include: an innovative lightweight and reusable façade, strategic building orientation, passive solar strategies, state-of-the-art end of trip facilities, rainwater retention, natural ventilation and window glazing and shading for thermal efficiency.
