AMPOL’s new Workplace at 29 Bourke Road proudly stands within an ever-changing precinct of Alexandria, embodying the suburb's transition into a vibrant commercial, residential, and retail hub. This progressive corporate development addresses the increasing demand for campus-style workplaces while embracing the evolving nature of work.

A key feature is AMPOL's successful relocation from Sydney's CBD to suburban Alexandria, underscoring the project's strategic commercial acumen and understanding of tenant needs. The emphasis on value-driven design principles results in a meticulously crafted base building tailored to diverse occupant requirements.

Upon entry, visitors experience a luminous central lobby nestled within the building's distinctive L-shaped structure. A soaring double-height void infuses the space with grandeur, while an interplay of curved perforated panelling, polished concrete, timber accents, and metal detailing creates a tactile warmth that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding urban fabric. Notably, this inviting space serves as a flexible canvas, ready to adapt to the evolving requirements of its occupants, ushering in a new era of workplace flexibility and collaboration.

Complemented by a vibrant ground-level café, retail spaces, and expansive outdoor amenities, the development emerges as a vibrant urban oasis, redefining modern workplace environments.

Strategically situated within the central lobby, the building's side & centre core configuration ensures uninterrupted panoramic views for its occupants, while thoughtful design choices mitigate wind effects and solar exposure, fostering a conducive indoor environment while offering glimpses of lush greenery.

In addition to its architectural qualities, the development incorporates a range of contemporary amenities designed to enhance the tenant experience. From state-of-the-art end-of-trip facilities to an inviting landscaped terrace and a bustling ground-floor courtyard, each element is carefully curated to promote social interaction and employee well-being, transcending the traditional boundaries of corporate real estate.

Environmental sustainability is at the core of the project's ethos, with innovative features contributing to its eco-friendly credentials. Boasting an impressive 5.5 NABERS rating certified by the City of Sydney, the development harnesses solar energy and onsite water harvesting, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while delivering tangible cost savings to its occupants.

Externally, the façade's unique fluid perforated metal screen displays a contemporary design sensibility, enlivening the streetscape and aligning with the precinct's people-based energy, highlighting movement and energy. Functionally, the design mitigates heat generation at the building's frontage, embracing a passive design approach to reduce heat gain.

The success of the design concept was evident from the outset, emerging as a clear favourite during AMPOL’s market research phase. Leading to the amalgamation of two smaller workplace buildings to accommodate the larger anchor tenant. The need was ingeniously resolved by the CPA Team through a brave design evolution, joining and bending the two previous buildings around a sharp corner. Highlighting the building’s flexibility and responsiveness to market dynamics, whilst delivering a totally unique environment.

The buildings innovative design, now ingrained in its DNA, will ensure its adaptability into the future as demands evolve.
