TRADITIONALLY A TRADESMEN’S pub, the Lord Stanley Hotel has undergone
major refurbishment and re-branding to keep pace with the changing demographic
of East Brisbane while retaining its tradesmen’s patronage. The essential
elements of a quintessential pub have been retained in the contemporary refurbishment,
with enhancement of the Beer Garden and new outdoor amenities and decks, while
re-planning the interior architecture to include a gaming room, lounge bar,
and function space fitted out with robust internal finishes. The original character
pub is a town planning anomaly in a character housing area. Through careful
design, public consultation, and council negotiation the Hotel has been successfully
refurbished without compromising the amenity of its neighbors or the patrons
that meet there.
